X-Plane 9 Upgrade - Flight Engineer’s Station
This is a quick, interim update. For the last two weeks, I’ve been busy with the flight engineer’s station. The basic framework has been there from September, but the panels were merely a photograph stuck onto a featureless surface. As part of the ongoing upgrade for X-Plane 9, I am making this live – or at least as far as datarefs and commands exist in simulator. The large upright assembly behind the co-pilot is divided into five; from the top: Panel J (electrical), K(fuel), L (pressurisation) and M (control levers, just going out of the picture) and N (de-icing, which is not illustrated). Additionally, some hydraulic functions are shown on J and K. Panels J and K are now in relief, with cut outs for the gauges. All switches, warning lamps, buttons and gulls-eye indicators have been fitted, but not properly linked to the cockpit texture. As I write this, M is work-in-progress.
You will also see more detail further forward in the cockpit: tables and cup-holders, heating and vent controls, an oxygen mask holder (above the side window), a fire bell and a ring of bolts around the triangular D.V. windows.
